Job Summary:
Responsibilities for this driving position include transporting food and food-related products using a straight truck or van within state borders and sometimes across state lines to carry out deliveries and unloading tasks. The driver will be tasked with promptly delivering urgent orders that are the result of picking mistakes or other customer-related issues. All delivery routes must be completed safely and in compliance with the Company's regulations as well as the Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Interactions with customers, suppliers, and team members should be conducted in a professional manner to ensure that all assigned duties and services are carried out following approved work methodologies and high standards of customer service.
Roles:
- Adhere to DOT regulations by conducting essential safety examinations, including pre and post-trip assessments, on the truck/van and trailer. Confirm the vehicles meet the safety standards set by the company and address any discrepancies as necessary.
- Comply with both DOT regulations and internal safe driving procedures and promptly communicate any safety concerns that arise.
- Thoroughly examine the truck or van to confirm that the cargo is loaded and fastened securely. Conduct a thorough count of the items and validate against the invoices provided by the customer for accuracy. Accurately fill out and organize all essential documentation related to the shipment.
- Carry out the task of driving to destinations and delivering customer purchases as per the outlined delivery timetable.
- Confirm the receipt of goods with the customer, ensuring the accuracy of the delivery, and acquire the appropriate signatures as proof of receipt. Handle financial transactions by collecting payments, either in cash or through checks, as mandated by the payment terms.
- Always ensure that trucks, vans, and shipment are properly secured and locked when not in operation.
- Handle the transfer of damaged merchandise and returns from clients to the driver's station for inspection and paperwork completion. Unload and clear trailers of any equipment, supplies, and refuse as specified. Keep an accurate daily log of service hours and record them appropriately according to guidelines set by the Federal Department of Transportation, state legislation, and corporate protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness in the tractor and loading dock zones through regular housekeeping responsibilities, including clearing and tidying trailers as necessary. Conclude the shift by securing equipment and finalizing any required paperwork.
- Undertakes any other relevant tasks as instructed.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of high school education or equivalent experience
- A track record of operating commercial vehicles for a duration of six to twelve months
- Accepted non-commercial driver's license
- Adhere to State-specific regulations in obtaining appropriate licensing or certification
- It is required to be at least 21 years old
- Secure a clean driving record for the previous three years through an MVR check
- Successfully passing a drug test before starting a new job is essential in the hiring process
- Proficient in physically moving and stacking merchandise containers using tools like two-wheeler and lift gate as needed throughout the shift. The weight of the products usually falls within the range of 60 to 90 pounds, but this may vary depending on the place of operation.

Preferred Qualifications:
- More than twelve months of commercial driving experience
- Involvement in the foodservice distribution sector
- Competence in operating onboard computer and electronic log system.

- The familiarity with point-of-delivery scanning systems held in the hand, or POD, indicates the practical exposure and hands-on involvement with these handheld devices in the context of package scanning at the point of delivery
