Job Summary:

The primary duty of this driver role is to operate a straight truck or van for both local and interstate transport to deliver a variety of food products and related items to customers. The position involves handling deliveries of time-sensitive orders caused by mispicks and other customer service concerns. It is essential that the driver completes all assigned routes in a safe manner, following the guidelines set forth by the Company and the Department of Transportation (DOT). Effective communication with customers, suppliers, and colleagues is crucial to ensure that all tasks and services are performed in accordance with established work practices and customer service protocols.

Roles:

• Comply with DOT guidelines through the completion of mandatory safety evaluations, such as pre and post-trip inspections, on both the truck/van and trailer. Ensure that the vehicles align with company safety requirements and promptly address any issues detected.
• Ensure strict adherence to DOT regulations and company-specific safe driving policies, and report any safety hazards without delay.
• Check the truck or van to guarantee that the freight is loaded securely and properly. Perform a meticulous inventory count and compare it with the customer's invoices to ensure correctness. Record all necessary information in a clear and precise manner on all relevant paperwork associated with the shipment.
• Adhere to the assigned delivery itinerary while transporting and dropping off customer requests.
• Safely load returned items onto the trailer and ensure the trailer doors are properly secured to prevent any incidents during transit.
• It is important to keep trucks, vans, and freight adequately locked and secured at all times.
• Transport flawed goods and customer returns to the designated driver check-in location and finalize any essential paperwork. Unload all necessary tools, materials, and eliminate rubbish from the trailers as instructed. Record the daily hours of service and log them in compliance with the regulations of the Federal DOT, state laws, and company guidelines.
• Complete general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock sections, ensuring trailers are kept clean and free of clutter when required. Secure all equipment at the conclusion of the shift and finish any essential paperwork.
• Executes supplementary duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Meeting the educational requirement with either a high school diploma, GED, or commensurate experience
• Proficient in commercial driving with six to twelve months of hands-on experience
• Official non-commercial driver's permit
• Ensure compliance with State-mandated licensing and certification prerequisites
• Individuals need to be 21 years of age in order to participate
• Request a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) free from any infractions over the last three years
• Meeting the requirements of a pre-employment drug test is necessary to move forward in the application process
• Skilled in the operation of equipment like two-wheeler and lift gate to shift and arrange product cases or freight items of diverse dimensions and heaviness during the working period. The weight of the goods typically varies between 60 and 90 pounds, subject to location conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A background in commercial driving that exceeds one year
• Background within the foodservice distribution field
• Proficiency in using onboard computer and electronic log system.
