Job Summary:
The Cloud Architect at Ryder will lead the strategic design and implementation of secure, scalable, and automated cloud solutions across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. This role involves leadership in cloud governance, platform engineering, and cross-functional collaboration to support Ryder’s cloud transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud platforms, system architecture, and leading technical teams in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Cloud Governance Leadership: Define and evolve Ryder’s cloud governance framework to ensure alignment with security and compliance standards.
- Platform Engineering Leadership: Build and maintain scalable and secure infrastructure, develop reusable components, and standardize deployment pipelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various stakeholders to align cloud strategies with business and technical goals.
- Technical Advisory: Provide guidance on cloud-native tools and service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
- Reliability Engineering: Design resilient systems with robust monitoring and error-handling capabilities.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the Platform Engineering team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Enforce cloud reference architecture across Azure, AWS, GCP, and OCI.
- Optimize cloud spend via monitoring, rightsizing, and reserved instance planning.
- Implement disaster recovery and high availability strategies.
- Ensure integration with enterprise platforms like ServiceNow, AppDynamics, Datadog, and CMDB.
- Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and assess their applicability to Ryder's infrastructure roadmap.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 10+ years in software development, engineering, or platform architecture
- 5+ years designing and managing resilient distributed systems
- 5+ years of experience managing operations teams
- 3+ years in a technical leadership role
- Expert scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, etc.)
- Strong experience in Azure security and governance, with working knowledge of AWS, GCP, and OCI
- Hands-on knowledge of infrastructure (VMs, storage, networking, autoscaling)
- Proven ability to engage in both technical deep dives and strategic leadership discussions
