Job Summary:
This position involves operating a straight truck or van locally and nationally to transport and deliver a variety of food items to customers. The job entails delivering urgent orders resulting from errors and other customer service problems. The driver must ensure that all deliveries are made safely and adhere to both Company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines. Successful execution of this role requires maintaining a professional demeanor when communicating with customers, suppliers, and colleagues to ensure that all tasks are performed in line with established work practices and high customer service standards.
Roles:
- Carry out necessary safety inspections, such as pre and post-trip checks, on the truck/van and trailer in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) rules. Evaluate the vehicles to confirm they adhere to company safety protocols and address any concerns promptly.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation rules and regulations as well as the safe driving protocols and guidelines set by the company. Promptly notify authorities of any safety risks encountered.
- Inspect the truck or van to ensure that the freight is loaded and secured correctly. Verify the quantity of items through a count check and cross-reference with the customer's invoices for accuracy. Complete all necessary paperwork neatly and accurately in connection with the transported goods.
- Follow the designated delivery schedule to transport and distribute customer orders efficiently.
- Unload merchandise from the vehicle and transfer goods to specified client storage sections. Conduct inspections to identify any damages on the products, scan items thoroughly, and inform the supervisor about the necessary actions to fulfill orders in accordance with organizational guidelines.
- Make sure that trucks, vans, and cargo are adequately fastened and locked when not in use.
- Unload defective items and products returned by customers and deliver them to the driver's check-in area for processing, including filling out any required documentation. Offload all tools, supplies, and dispose of any waste from the trucks as needed. Maintain a detailed log of work hours each day and input this information into the record system following regulations from the Federal Department of Transportation, state laws, and company policies.
- Carry out routine cleaning tasks in the tractor and loading dock vicinity, ensuring trailers are maintained in a tidy and organized manner as needed. Wrap up the workday by securing all machinery and fulfilling any essential documentation.
- Carries out additional responsibilities as delegated.
Required Qualifications:
- Possession of a high school diploma/GED or an equal amount of relevant experience
- Experience in driving commercially for a period ranging from six to twelve months
- Legitimate non-commercial driver's permit
- Fulfill all necessary qualifications for licensure or certification in each State
- One must have reached the age of 21
- Obtain a spotless Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) covering the most recent three-year period
- Clearing a pre-employment drug screening is crucial for securing a job opportunity
- Capable of manually lifting and operating equipment such as two-wheeler and lift gate to transport and stack product cases of different sizes and weights during work hours. Items typically weigh between 60 to 90 pounds, with variations based on the specific site requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Over a year of experience in the field of commercial driving
- Experience in the foodservice distribution industry
- Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic logging system utilization.

- Experience with handheld point-of-delivery scanning systems, commonly known as POD, refers to the user's interaction and utilization of these portable devices for scanning packages upon delivery
- Experience in the field of customer service delivery
